To the attention of Azerbaijan writers and scientists!
A group of Azerbaijan scientists plan to publish an independent scientific
journal “Zeitschrift fur aserbaidschanforschung – ZAF” (“Azerbaijan
investigations”) due to financial assistance of German-Azerbaijan society in
Maynz. The journal will be published once or twice in a year. The journal
language is Azeri. English and French articles are accepted also. Articles
on Azerbaijan by Azerbaijan and non-Azerbaijan intellectuals will be
published. The journal is aimed at providing “Free access” of Azeris to
European, including German libraries. All issues of the journal will be
published due to society means and presented to the University library.
The journal content:
• Politik und Gesellschaft (policy and society) – articles and analysis of
public-political situation in Azerbaijan and etc.
• Wirtschaft (economy) – economic situation in Azerbaijan
• Geschichte (history) – ancient and modern history of Azerbaijan
• Bildung (education) – religious communities in Azerbaijan
• Sprache ind Literatur (language and literature) – Azerbaijan language and
literature, the works by Azerbaijan poets and writers that were translated
into German, French and English
• Neuerscheinungen und Rezensionen (data and opinions on recently published
works on Azerbaijan.
The journal will take the form of the simple book not a traditional journal.

will come in light in June. The persons who are intended to submit the
articles are requested to inform the editorial staff within 2 weeks (till 19
December 2005).
While forwarding please take into consideration the following terms:
- The article should be submitted to MS Office in Word Document format and
cover 3-20 pages. Standard dimensions of the page: top, left, right – 2,5
cm; bottom – 2 c,
- Articles font – Times New Roman 12 pt, distance between lines – 1,5 pt.
- In addition to notes in each article (Fussnote, footnote) the list of
literature is desired
- Electron version of the articles should be forwarded to
zaf_online@web.de
- Short annotation in German or English to be provided at the end of Azeri
writing
- Received articles are selected taking into consideration scientific
character and singularity principles. Once more it should be noted you are
not obliged any fee to editorial staff (publication of the article is free
of charge). The journal gives wide opportunity for the youth in the sphere

The publishers were awarded 12 prizes and diplomas
in the Republican book-sale exhibition organized by the
Book Club on May 20-21.
On may 20-21, 2005 the Republican book sale-exhibition took place in
exhibition saloon in the Painters’ Union named after V.Samadova. OSI AF and
the Book Club jointly financed the exhibition that the project “Assistance
for book market development in Azerbaijan” intended. “Hunja Cosmetics”
perfumery, “Lazer” Scientific and Technical Center, “Express-M” insurance
company sponsored the exhibition. The newspaper “Gun” and “Azadlig” provided
informational assistance. 30 publishing houses in the Republic joined the
exhibition (3 publishing houses from Nakhchivan, 27 from Baku). Most of
publishing houses demonstrated the books in stands while the others
presented the books to the contest within the exhibition frames. 12 prizes
were awarded on 5 nominations. The prominent writer Chingiz Abdullayev,
authors – Haji ZitRaddin Tagiyev, Firudin Gurbansoy and Osman Gunduz
autographed the books. About 700 readers participated in voting for the most
interesting book. 65 readers received incentive prizes. Most publishing
houses and authors disinterestedly awarded the prizes. Amount of the books
sold within 2 days in the exhibition constituted 1 million manats.
Results of contest:
For the best printing the For the best polygraph quality – the printing
house “Abilov, Zeynalov and ogullari” won this nominee for the book “Guran.
Interpretation of sense and comments”.
For the best printing – “Multimedia Center” for the book “Internet. Internet
resources of Azerbaijan”, “Baku” for the book “Off-exchange market of the
shares: intelligence by force”
For the best polygraph quality - the printing house “Kitab alemi” for the
book “Russian in Azerbaijan”, “Nurlan” for the book “Mehseti Genjevi: - she,
her word, trace”.
700 readers took part in the Reader’s choice contest.
“Tutu” printing house was awarded the prize for the book “Fairy tales”. It
should be noted that “Fairy tales” gained high score in the nomination For
the best Polygraph quality. But due to not publishing this book in Azeri
this publishing house was hors concours.
Printing house “Nagil Evi” for the book “Pelengderili jengaver” and “Ganun”
for the book “Goy Tanri” were awarded to special diplomas in the nomination
Reader’s choice. Printing house “Altun Kitab” with the book “Amir Teymur”
won the nomination - The most sold book from the series history. Director of
“Lazer” Scientific and Technical Center Sultanhamid Malikov instituted
prizes for the competition “The most books published on ecology in
2004-2005”. “Adiloglu” publishing house won the nominee. “Nakhchivan Book
Society” that organized participation of the printing houses from Nakhchivan
were awarded to diplomas and valuable presents. Subscription company took
place for the catalogue “Azerbaijan publications” in the course of
exhibition. The writer Chingiz Abdullayev, bibliogist Aliyusuf Mammadov,
journalist Ismail Umudlu, painter-autor Akif Huseynov and prominent culture
specialist Nazim Mammadbayov were members of the board of adjudicators. |
